No guarantees

In this world where
everyone is trying to find
the absolutely perfect way to do
each and every thing,
I can’t offer that.

I can only offer
vague reflections
on what I actually do,
for me, because it works
for me, with no guarantee
whatsoever it will also
work for

The last line of my current post is a quotation from T.S. Eliot: “For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.” I think that accords very well with your poem. Whether its writing or parenting or coping with life in general, we each have to find our own way. What others think of that way? It matters, but it shouldn’t be the motivation.

Beautifully put! Yes, yes, and yes. 🙂

I know some people think I’m telling them what they ought do, based on what I say here, but … no. I’m only saying (usually) what works/has worked for me, not mandating.

And working for me today offers no guarantee it will tomorrow – for me, or for you.
Perfection? Queue hysterical laughter. A work in progress.

      You nailed it!

I knew a lot of individual “perfectionists” before this presidential election cycle. Now, seeing how many folks don’t want to proceed until they have perfection, I want to nip that in the bud! Very, very rarely are we assured perfection when we undertake the most important–and new-to-us of–tasks. 🙂
