i was prompted
to provide written feedback
on a colleague

i, who
have so many words,
struggled to find
nearly the
right ones

i finally concluded
my submission
that i have
almost never
anyone so safe

not only
the absence of harm,
but the presence of
the presence
of care as
not by doing,
but by being

after submitting
my words,
i basked
in the goodness
of getting to
experience this
anywhere, ever

(with my childhood,
this was not
a given)

and then,
then i saw news
of another shooting,
and i thought

these frail human bodies
can never be safe.

thank god our hearts
can be sheltered
by the care of
those around us

our hearts
can be safe

i cherish those
who work to safekeep my heart,
and dream of a world
where all may

If you ever get IG, please let me know! I posted something else there that’s an extension of this safe, because, as I texted C, “There is so much good in your words in this world of always shouting … if people are so moved by feeling it second hand, it warms my heart to imagine the first hand. :)”

Such touching kind words for others and a very important reminder of being ‘safe’ especially in todays world. Your coworker is lucky to have your review 🙂

To know that so many still have no safe place makes me feel even profoundly grateful to know it so well today. There are still unsafe spaces in my life, but their detriments are countered by the benefits of seeing creating-safe demonstrated day after day after day. For me, this is my best hope of extending “safe” to someone who does not yet have it in their physical spaces.

Beautiful words ❤️ I honestly don’t want to turn on the news anymore these days because it’s just too frightening 😁

      Hear, hear!

If you see my posts taking on a more frantic, anxious tone, you can bet that I’ve been on Twitter. It’s a great place to find out what all’s going on. Unfortunately … it’s a great place to find out what all’s going on.

Eyes closed and heart comforted by your words Deb. If all we accomplish in this life, is to teach our children the power of love, true and accepting of the different people and opinions in this world, we will succeed in making their world a better one, maybe even safe.
    Your co-worker sounds like a rockstar 💜

He’s pretty darn awesome! The things I’m learning from him are helping make me a better employee and person. 🙂
