Last day passed

me n miss aToday
should be
my son’s last day
in Miss Angie’s classroom.

But when
he awakened me
at three o’clock, clutching
his belly and saying,
“Mommy, it hurts!”
I knew that
yesterday
was it.

Li’l D,
he’ll be okay.
He perked up
at the thought
of TV the whole day!

Today,
I’ll drive alone.
Instead of taking
that exit we’ve taken
every day for two
whole years,
I’ll drive
on by.

Passing it,
not exiting,
I will not sniffle
(rare for me!), but
will instead say thanks
that, for two years,
that was our exit:
our entrance to
learning
in love.

It’s hard to not have closure and not say goodbye, but I’m sure his teacher knows how much you appreciate her. Feel betterLil D!

She called a few nights ago to see how he was doing. He was wiped out from the hard work of being a first grader (♥), so already asleep … but he was so glad to know she’d called, and that I wasn’t just kidding when I said we’d stay in touch. 🙂

Aw, I hope he feels better. I’m sorry he didn’t get to have the official last day with Miss Angie. ❤

Anthony took him to pick up his stuff, and let D give her the card he’d made. He didn’t take any pictures, *sniffle*, but I was glad to hear about it. And remain so glad for Miss Angie, of course! ♡

Oh, too sad. Glad he got to at least say good-bye even through a tummy ache.

Me, too! He’ll see Miss Angie again, but I’m glad he got the chance to do it there … with his friends close by. 🙂
