bad d xmasMy five-year-old stomped and hollered through each of the thirty minutes he was “awake” at home this morning. Despite my last post, I did not once think about his defiance as a blessing.

And yet … here at the end of the day, the very same day, my blessings are evident in:

  • His dad sniffling as the three of us watch the last episode of Phineas & Ferb together
  • Talking about things that are sad and girls who are both cute and mean
  • Snuggles in the kitchen as I cook everything I didn’t yesterday
  • Knowing my big boy will graduate kindergarten next week,
    but that he’ll still be
    my little/big boy

I think, for most of us, “remembering daily blessings” is usually more of a “reflect back with gratitude” kinda thing — and less of a “receive each moment gratefully at the very instant of its occurrence.” 🙂

    Congratulations to the near-graduate!

Oh no, is Phineas and Ferb ending? That’s awful, I watched so much of that show while Mr T was growing up!

My friend, I stomped and hollered through much of my day the other day. I suspect the only blessing in that day was I was alone for much of it and no one could see I was having a terrible day. The truth is, none of us are good at seeing every minute in front of us as wonderful, only the accumulation of minutes behind us and count them off as full and somehow perfect as they were.

You are doing pretty wonderfully, you are seeing all the small stuff and grabbing hold.
