5,000 Shades of Green

I was working on one of my favorite TV shows when a fellow extra started chatting with me.

I was intrigued by her accent, and asked her where she was from.

When she said Russia, I wowed her with my Russian. By which I mean, “We conversed in Russian until I exhausted my skills 30 seconds later.”

I told her I’d studied Russian for two terms in college.

My face was turned toward the extra, but my eyes were on the nearby lead actress.

Regret swept over her face as I spoke.

I was flabbergasted. Was this wealthy, famous actress regretting the choices she hadn’t made?

A friend recently told me the actress has said in interviews she wishes she’d gone to college.

I thought of this as I drove to work today.

But her grass is so green!

The thought made me laugh. My grass is pretty green, too, though fertilized differently.

I got to thinking that the grass might actually be greener on both sides.

They’re different shades of green, sure. But each is lush, each well and lovingly tended, each nourished by rain and sunshine. Both are beautiful.

And, oh! How heartening it is to know that’s the tiniest sampling of all the shades of green around me.

So many shades of green

I love this! What a fantastic way to look at it – we all have fantastically green grass, just different shades.

Thank you! I’ve been thinking on this in between tasks all day, and being thankful (i) that my bridesmaids’ dresses were green and (ii) I wasn’t fussed with the shade. Who knew it’d later have practical blogging applications?! Heh.

Great piece and so well written! Thanks, love the different shades of grass comparison so true, so true. Namaste , Michelle

Thank you! It took me about a decade to see it in this light, but I did get there eventually. 🙂

That’s all that counts, its in the journey as much as the end, as long as we get there eventually!!

I love the wedding photo! How much fun is that?!? And, yes, the shades of green are gorgeous, figuratively and literally. 😉 XOXO-Kasey

I scrolled through pics in my library for one with lots of green. I was looking for foresty greens of nature, but this worked even better. And such joy to be whisked back in time, to that sweet proximity! Happy Friday and big hugs, dear Kasey.

Thanks for the hugs! Green is one of my favorite colors…it breaths life and happiness. 🙂

I need to see this, just this in this light. Thank you for the gentle push this morning when I am seeing blight. ❤

I must admit to never seeing a wedding pic like this. 🙂 … besides, given the setup above it, it surprised me with a smile.

I’m always amazed when I find out from someone I think has everything (beauty, brains and wealth) they have problems I couldn’t imagine. We don’t know what’s really going on beyond the façade. Everyone has something.
